Why We Built FlowPilot
Automation tools have existed for years, but most sit at one of two extremes. Either they are simple enough to be useless past the first step, or powerful enough that only a developer can maintain them.
The result is familiar: a handful of clever scripts nobody dares touch, and a team still doing the rest by hand.
We wanted something in between — visual enough that the person who owns a process can build it, and capable enough that it does not fall over on the second branch.
Adding AI where judgement is genuinely needed, rather than everywhere, turned out to be the missing piece.
How We Think About AI
AI is a step in a workflow, not the whole workflow. It is good at reading messy input, summarising, classifying and suggesting — and it should be used exactly there, with the rest handled by rules you can inspect.
Every AI step leaves a record of what it produced, so a person can check the reasoning rather than trusting a black box. When a decision matters, the workflow should route it to a human rather than guess confidently.
